A 2009 Magna Cum Laude graduate from the Southern University Law Center, Paul T. DeRousselle joins Doran & Cawthorne with an accomplished resume’. While attending SULC, DeRousselle served as the Vice-President of the Student Bar Association, co-captain of the Mock Trial Team, Chairman of the Recruitment Committee, and Associate Editor of the Southern University Law Review. Additionally, he published a sports law article titled “Personal Foul! How the Supreme Court Allowed the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association to Violate Brentwood Academy’s First Amendment Rights”).
During his undergraduate tenure at Southern University, DeRousselle’s accolades didn’t end within the classroom. A four-year letterman in tennis, Paul helped lead the Jaguars to three-consecutive conference titles and two NCAA tournament appearances. He also served as a national delegate for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Paul is a seasoned attorney that spent the majority of his legal career in the Complex Commercial Litigation Department at a perennial Top-10 global law firm. During his time there, he represented entities such as the National Football League Players Association(NFLPA), ESPN, CBS, Disney, Verizon Wireless, General Electric, Apple, American Airlines, and Southwest Airlines. In those cases, he successfully negotiated millions of dollars via skillful negotiation with opposing sides. This number includes over 70 Motors Liquidation Company/General Motors mediation settlements.
Paul has also served as an NFLPA Certified Contract Advisor since 2012, where he guides the careers of several NFL Players while securing lucrative endorsement deals with companies such as Nike, Fanatics, Adidas, Panini Trading Cards, Leaf Trading Cards, Card.com, and Dick’s Sporting Goods in addition to facilitating countless autograph signings and player appearances.
He lives by a quote given to him by his late grandfather: “Those who walk with God always reach their destination.”
Affectionately known as “Lil Paul” in his hometown of Eunice, Louisiana, he is a passionate founder of the Go Be Great Scholarship initiative which gives back to local kids.
